BPMDS Back to Classerole 8/24/18

Our traditional "Back to Classerole" theme attracted a great crowd. Its size matched the age span of attendees from the kid that will be able to say, "I was there before I was born," to George Jacob celebrating his 87th birthday! Even knowing we missed a few, we got a count of 30 families, 83 people and 5 dogs. If the Bonfantine, Donahue and Setzo familes had actually made it, and the Hunt, Price, Laffoon and Wiley/Good families who cancelled on Friday had come, we would have had 37 families and 106 folks. That would have topped the old record from September 10th 2010's "Letter 'P' Potluck" turnout of 36 families, and 102 people, but not the 14 dogs!

Just for fun, here's the link to that potluck, Letter P Potluck, and you'll see that 9 families who were there then, were with us on Friday. And, since this is the start of the Bubb School year, here's a link to the building of the Bubb Garden in June of 2007, including lead designer and proponent Page McDonald with help from George Jacob, Beth Caltigarone, Stuart Newbarth, and me, all present on Friday. And, reaching all the way back to the beginning, in this picture from March 26, 2001, back row right are Sandy Van Mell with dog Teak, Page with Tatum, Vera Kark with her hand up (dog Link not visible), and Karen Price with Lauren and dog McKinley. Left foreground is Jenny Patterson with Ryan and dog Kenai.

Mac and Cheese was clearly the kids favorite casserole, with pasta and pizza right behind. We held out the cake as the reward for getting everyone out to the hill to take the annual picture - which turned out to be a fun one. When we announced that cake was to be served immediately afterward, the kids mobbed the dessert table en mass. I saw a few moms taking pictures and would love to have one to add to the collection.

A continuing "Thank You" to George Jacob for picking up, delivering and returning the tables, and to Doreta Strotman for adding hers.
