BPMDS Flag Day Potluck 6/14/19

After record-breaking heat two days ago, it was just delightful for 21 families with 52 people and 7 dogs, that we knew, but a few stopped to say hello that we didn't catch.

Good food from pastas and hot dogs/sausage to salads and great fruit selections.

One of the great vibrations of BPMDS potlucks is the kids playing in Bubb Park while the adults chat and keep a weather eye on events. Lots of kids onto the grass, off to the playgrounds and back again.

Another good feature was the interaction of new people and long time participants. One revelation happened when asking where the D'Antonio kids were in school since they hadn't been at potlucks for a while. Let's see, 16 headed for Junior in HS, and 13 to 8th grade, we realized that they were born after BPMDS was started and participated as preschoolers!

A continuing "Thank You" to George Jacob (87 years young) for driving his van to pick up all the tables, ladders, and setup stuff from Rick & Doreta Strotman, and delivering it back at the end of the evening.

And, my own special "Thank You" to the folks who help wrap it up at the end of the evening. It's a routine that has kept at least some of the table cloths going for over 10 years! The formula is simple: remove any food, wipe down with damp napkins, allow some time for the table cloth to air dry, then fold it in "Rick's way." With a person at each end, grab the centerline of the table cloth and lift it up so the two sides fall down. Match the corners, pull tight and then fold in half lengthwise again. Now in quarters, lay it flat on the table surface - fighting the wind if you have to. Press out the air, then bring one end to the other, effectively folding it in half. Fold in half again, and then once more. This will now fit the tablecloth into the bag that goes into the "Ready Box."

This big, red-topped plastic box holds all of the dinner plates, dessert plates, cups, utensils, table cloths, hold-down clips, water system parts, dog dish and all those table cloths and hold-down clips. After every potluck it is repacked (before I go to bed) with enough parts to host a BPMDS potluck for 100 people - so it is ready to go at the spur of the moment.

It's on the shelf ready to go - tentative target date is Friday, July 19th.

Here's the list of participants as best we got it. Enjoy!
