Wow! What an incredible weekend!
Saturday's racing included two divisions: the Green Division raced until 1:00 and had all 24 FJs as well as several 420s on the starting line, and then the White Division raced in the afternoon. We had all 30 boats on the water for most of the afternoon, and had to run a second start for the 420s!
With over 200 individuals in attendance, Brian Doyle guided the Celebration Dinner, which featured the team's annual awards, and included comments from Athletic Director Harry Sheehy. Jim Allen '83, grandson of Art Allen, and Bob Hurst '76, son of Captain Bill Hurst, provided memorable thoughts on the two individuals whose lives had such a terrific impact on Dartmouth Sailing, moving the crowd alternately through heartfelt sympathy and hilarity over some of the great stories from their years of leadership. We were lucky to be able to honor Mrs. Christina Hurst with a standing ovation that evening.
A big thank you to Sam Hopkins and Alex Stein, who put in many hours to make the Alumni Regatta and Dinner a tremendous success, and to all of the alumni and parents who made the effort to get back to Hanover for this important event!
