The weather was perfect - not too hot, not too cold and not too windy - just right. That's the best description for this potluck - Just Right!
Our crowd included (at best count) 56 people representing 21 families, with 12 dogs present to add comment and pick up the dropped goodies. Here's the table of families present, and may include, particularly, "a few good men" who were bringing home the bacon and, obviously, contributed to the great, happy throng of moms and kids.

This has to rate as one of the healthiest potlucks we've ever had. The theme steered us in the right direction, and goodies did indeed crop up (excuse the pun) from back yard gardens with fresh and delicious results. The fresh tomatoes were particularly good, and everyone was in the right spirit - even if they had a little help from some big-store produce departments.
The most telling evidence was the dessert table - why if it wasn't for Karen Tarter's brownies and Doreta Strotman's lemon bars (hey - she almost used lemons from her own back yard), there was (as the kids would say) NOTHING but fruit on the dessert table!!!
Another great aspect of this potluck was the impromptu soccer game, initiated by Scott Schynert, as usual, that got a whole bunch of kids playing and having a great time.
Our crowd includes a number of teachers and parents who have been members of and leaders in the Bubb PTA who help create the special events like the Walkathon and Williams Bubb which both broaden the kids' educations and make this a special neighborhood. (Why it probably even raised the property values too!!!)
The interesting thing about BPMDS is that we are now beginning to see "generations" as kids graduate from Bubb School, but still relate to younger friends and siblings still at Bubb - why Lyle & Sally Sechrest have been around Bubb for 39 years!!! Les Nichols, in case you didn't get to talk with him, is a past Mayor of Mountian View, and currently a Judge -- might want to point that out to kids that are a little wild! Did you talk to Pam & Chirs Lehner - their son Mike is a nuclear sub officer, now stationed in Naples, Italy, but he grew up in Bubb Park too. And Mark Lehner, now in college is intereted in railroading, and George Jacob's son is a Union Pacific engineer. Amazing how these connections last.
It all just goes to show what a bunch of good people can do when they get together. See you all at the next Bubb Park Mother & Dogs Society Potluck In The Park.
