BPMDS Iron Chef Bubb - Corn

We tried something new - and it worked out well. Playing off the Food Channel series, Iron Chef America, we "challenged" our BPMDS folks to come up with a contribution with a secret ingredient -- this time CORN. With perhpas 20 different dishes to choose from, at least 90% had some type of corn. Creative honors go to the use of: corn meal in the crust of a cobbler dessert, corn syrup in a fruit compote bowl, polenta, corn breads and fritters, and corn tamale. In short, it was a great evening.

It turned out to be a perfect evening with the sea breeze kicking in just in time to make temperatures moderate so 71 people from 26 families - and 10 dogs - enjoyed an evening that easily lingered on past 8 pm. At first "distance honors" appear to go to Penny Lynch's mom who was here from England, but then Drew & Jenny Patterson's friends, the Roths, had flown in from Germany! I guess we just give great parties! Just viewing all of the Mushroom tables filled, and the benches too, was a relaxing sight, regardless of where folks came from.

As we have seen more and more, the older kids took over the grass of Bubb Park and made their own fun, whether with a ball or a game -- but mostly just kid friends hanging out. The younger ones stayed with moms, and they are the next generation of Bubb students and are enjoyed by all.
