Wrap Up for Summer Fun

With less than a week to the Summer Solstice, old Sol was doing his best to roast us out - over 100 degrees yesterday, over 90 today, but just minutes after we officially began, the wind gods blew cooler air into Bubb Park and a delightful evening ensued.

Lots of creative "Wraps" for summer arrived: traditional wraps in several styles, taquitoes, and even a peanut butter wrap. Add in some great pasta salads (with lots of wrapping curls), lasagnas with meat wrapped in pasta, sushi rolls (it's wrapped by definition), plus some great desserts - including a raspberry roll, created a feast fit for the whole neighborhood.

It was particularly nice to see this group of kids running and playing on the grass at all ends of Bubb Park, allowing the parents to actually talk with each other while keeping that 6th sense alert for the distant cry of a (pick one) unhappy, angry, injured, child. It's amazing how that particular frequency can travel the full length of Bubb Park to the right attentive ears!

Thirteen dogs turned up - with name tags for them too - just peel them off and stick them on their backs above the shoulder. A few rolled to get them off, but most were happy to show their names. Thanks to Kathy Cooper for initially requesting name tags for Molly & Gus - that got tags for all the 13 dogs that attended.

Now, speaking of attendance, we had a fine showing of 26 families with 67 people and 13 dogs present. That's a really fun evening. But, there were 7 other families that said they were coming with 24 people and 4 dogs. An additional 4 families, with 13 people and 3 dogs said maybe they could attend. If all had attended, we would have had 104 people and 20 dogs - but alas, 44 name tags were left waiting for someone to claim them.
