Kid's Pick Potluck

We crossed our fingers and went for it. The first heavy rains of the fall were coming ashore - the first wave Thursday night and into Friday almost until noon. But the streets dried, temperatures stayed mild and light wind were the scene at 5:30 when the Potluck began.

Even with 5 families not making it at the last minute, we still had 54 people representing 22 families in attendance. And 10 dogs.

Delicious dishes were the rule. Traditionals spaghetti & meatballs, mashed potatoes and fried chicken matched up with some great matzo ball soup, turkey chili, the very best mini burgers with cheese inside, a pasta soup with kale, tasty cauliflower, spicy meatballs, and a fine lasagna filled the table. The big surprise was -- almost no desert!

A lone plate of apple strudel was lonely until quickly devoured, and late arriving little pumpkin muffins went equally fast.

As if to reward our commitment to carry on, just at sunset, yellow golden beams broke through the clouds, blazing through the trees to the west and gloriously shading the billowing cumulus to the east. The last pictures were with flash as night closed in quickly, and we were all wrapped up just after 7:00.

It was a great way to wrap up another Bubb Park Mothers & Dogs Society season, thank each other for the fun times, the good food, and the good memories with friends and neighbors old and new.
